Cape Cod Healthcare Named One of America's Top Systems
(Hyannis, June 29, 2010) Cape Cod Healthcare is pleased to announce that it has been chosen as one of the top health care systems in America.
The study – the 100 Top Hospitals®: Health System Benchmarks Study – was conducted by Thomson Reuters, one of the world’s leading health care information organizations. It is based solely on objective, quantitative performance data consistent across every health system in the U.S. with two or more acute care member hospitals. It is one of several 100 Top Hospitals®: studies conducted by Thomson Reuters.
“It’s a tremendous accomplishment,” said Richard F. Salluzzo, M.D. MBA, CCHC’s President and CEO. “Twelve years after the CCHC system was formed, it is clear that we have made great strides in building a comprehensive system that provides the best care possible to Cape Cod residents and visitors. We are delighted to be recognized as one of the top systems in the nation.”
The study measures clinical quality and efficiency, using objective statistical analysis and publicly available data in categories such as patient complications, patient safety errors, and patient satisfaction scores. The awards are reported in Modern Healthcare magazine, one of the nation’s most respected health journals.
“Our physicians, nurses and other health professionals work extremely hard to produce the highest level of patient satisfaction and quality health care for Cape Codders,” Dr. Salluzzo added. “This recognition is further substantiation of that commitment, and it is another reason for all residents and visitors to have peace of mind that top-quality healthcare is available right here.”
Of the 255 systems analyzed as part of this study, CCHC was among 51 that were selected as Health System Benchmarks. CCHC joins Partners HealthCare in Boston and Baystate Health in Springfield as the only Massachusetts systems on this list. Dartmouth-Hitchcock in New Hampshire is the only other New England system to earn a spot on this list.
“It reflects a collaborative, team approach to quality and performance which defines Cape Cod Healthcare and its individual partners,” added Michael Lauf, CCHC’s Chief Operating Officer. “This honor reinforces that Cape Cod Healthcare is addressing the challenges of today without sacrificing quality of care.”
